Two APD roles available at two different public radio Triple A stations — and both have the same four letters that make up their call letters. WNXP/Nashville, and now WXPN/Philadelphia.
Is there some sort of meaning here? Yes, it means opportunity for up-and-coming programmers.
The latest rare opening at one of the elite public radio Triple A organizations comes in the form of WXPN’s posting for an Assistant Program Director.
The APD supervises on-air hosts and music programming staff, ensures the format is successfully implemented and audience-focused, and collaborates with other departments to help achieve audience, revenue, and organizational goals.
The Assistant Program Director will also need on-air skills, serving as a primary back-up host. The APD is expected to help foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Candidates with experience with research, coaching, and conducting airchecks will be viewed favorably.
