Record Store Day returns, duplicating the 2020 pandemic strategy of dividing releases into two different “drops.”

The first will occur this Saturday, June 12, with a follow up July 17, 2021.

RSD Drop #1 features a very robust slate of more than 200 limited edition vinyl titles.

Among the collectibles is Hyperspace 2020 from Beck, a special vinyl edition of the 2019 release limited to 1500 copies, featuring a holographic etching on the cover, a 24-page booklet, and two extra songs.

Classic Rock fans can find Steely Dan’s 2003 Everything Must Go, available on vinyl for the first time (5050 copies), Janis Joplin’s Pearl picture disc, Robert Palmer’s Sneaking Sally… on emerald green vinyl, and The Fixx’s 1984 Reach the Beach, featuring two bonus tracks.

Tom Petty & Heartbreakers “Angel Dream” on blue cobalt vinyl. Yes please.

Also among the highly collectible releases is Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ Angel Dream. It’s a special re-imagining of the She’s The One film soundtrack, celebrating the 25th anniversary of its original release. Most songs on this album were recorded during the same time period as Wildflowers. Four previously unreleased songs have been added – two Petty originals, “105 Degrees” and “One of Life’s Little Mysteries,” a cover of JJ Cale’s “Thirteen Days”, and the instrumental “French Disconnection”.

An extended version of “Supernatural Radio” is also included. The album has been remixed & remastered and brand new cover art commissioned – emphasizing that this is a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers album, rather than a soundtrack album. All this on cobalt blue vinyl.

Worth getting up early Saturday morning.
