The Spotify Artist Network is a mapping tool developed by Bernhard Rieder, Associate Professor in Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam.

Enter an artist, and the tool uses Spotify’s API to generate a network of associated artists two steps from the starting point. Networks of artists are represented by nodes, the size of which represent artist popularity.

An interesting example is the Foo Fighters, who are something of a “universal donor,” finding fans in multiple corners of the rock universe.
