Previously reported here, Friends of 91.3 has acquired Class D translator W211BT, operating at 90.1 FM in Athens, Ohio.

Friday, November 5, The Summit was finally able to take over the signal from Spirit Communications.

Operating with 38 watts at 161 feet, 90.1 FM is enough to cover Athens, home of Ohio University (not Ohio State University). Athens has a full-time population of roughly 25,000, and Ohio U adds as many as 20,000 more. Athens is also home to the bands Caamp, Red Wanting Blue, and Jonathan Edwards.

Summit Program Director Brad Savage said, “There is nothing like launching your pride-and-joy on another signal in a new market. We are very excited to expand The Summit brand and bring our eclectic music programming to another world-class city in Ohio.

The translator will be the third signal carrying programming from licensee Akron Public Schools. The Summit is currently available on 91.3FM in Akron/Canton, and 90.7 FM in Youngstown

The FCC reports the sales price was $30,000.
